The following fields in the database are available for searching:

Field Type of search
Title Keyword anywhere
Author Keyword anywhere
Place Selection from a browse list, presented at the right
Printer Keyword anywhere
Year Specification of a year (format nnnn) or a range of years (format nnnn-nnnn)
Subject Selection from a browse list, presented at the right. Please note that not all records contain subject information.
Language Selection from a browse list, presented at the right
Pamphlet nr.   Selection by entering the number of the pamphlet as being used in a printed catalogue of a specific collection. Please note that the same number may be used in different series.
Series Selection of the collection to be searched. Available collection are presented in a browse list on the right.

Multiple search criteria
  • Up to four different search parameters can be entered by using logical AND / OR operators. Click on the arrow of the third box top select AND or OR. After having done so, a next line in the search screen is added. Removing a line is possible by resetting the value of the AND/OR box on the preceding line back to blank again.

Search results
  • Search results can be ordered by Author, Title, Date or Pamphlet number by selecting one of the four options in the "Sort by" line.
  • It is possible to choose for a short or a full display of the search results. The short display consists of the pamphlet number, title, series and microfiche information. The full display presents all fields that contain information (empty fields are suppressed) AND a thumbnail of the first page of the facsimile copy of the pamphlet (if available)

Display of records
The records that match with the search criteria are presented in pages. Ten records per page are presented in the short display and five records per page in the full display. Standard paging functionality (i.e. previous, next, goto) is available.

Plase note that:
  • In the short display it is possible to switch between the short and full display for each individual record. You can click on the icon right of the pamphlet number to to see the full display of a specific record. Clicking again on this again will change the display into short again.
  • Different sources have been used to compile the records, resulting in differences in the level of description of individual pamphlets. Improving the metadata and thus the search ability of the has our continuous attention.

Viewing of facsimile copies
The facsimile copies are stored in the DjVu format. This format is especially designed for presenting information on the Internet. and is becoming more popular. Main characteristics of the format are high compression ratios (resulting in small file sizes) in combination with a high quality. A plug-in for your Internet browser is for free available, and has useful options such as loading the next and preceding page in the background, calibrating your display and the possibility to select different layers of the image (foreground, background, black and white or color).

Extensive help information regarding the possibilities and use of the plug-n is accessible by right-clicking in a DjVu-image and selecting "Help" in the pop-up menu. Select "Plug-in Help..." for the Help information.
